A Tradition Passed Down
Rusks are more than just food – they’re a part of our heritage, enjoyed at breakfast, as “padkos”, or as a comforting snack. Baking has always been my passion and I passed it on to my daughter, Esté, from a young age.
What began as 15-year-old Esté baking her grandmother’s recipe for pocket money, grew into a beloved family business. By her matric year, she passed it on to her parents, with her father declaring, “You never close a profitable business.”
From Tradition to Innovation
In 2023, inspired by tradition and my love for creating something unique, I created a new recipe with muesli, cranberries, and white chocolate. This innovation won the RSG & Virseker Bakgat Beskuit Kompetisie on November 13, 2024, out of 1,510 other entries.
A Bite of Home
This journey isn’t just about baking – it’s about creating something unique and decadent. A rusk that stirs memories and brings people together. Each bite of Kraak Beskuit takes you back to the kitchen table, a warm cup of tea or coffee in hand, and that unmistakable “kraak” under your teeth as the flavours of home unfold.
Enjoy the comforting taste of home.
